Footwear industry report: Deichmann was missed the most

Even before the re-opening, the market research of »OBSERVER« showed which shoe store was missed the most by Austrians. The survey in April showed that people miss Deichmann in particular with 61 %, followed by Humanic with 16 % and Snipes with 7 %. Especially people in the age between 30 and 49 miss shopping at Deichmann dealerships (67 %).

Since the 2nd of May, Austria’s footwear dealers have been allowed to open their shops again. The result was an enormous number of customers with customers queueing far out to the streets.

»OBSERVER« examined the question of what effects the reopening will have on the online presence of individual shoe shops. The online and social media channels in Austria were analysed in the period from 02.05. to 21.06.2020.

Geox with the strongest online presence

The results show that Geox (34.4%) covers more than a third of the total online presence of the top shoe stores in Austria. In second place is Deichmann with 15%, ahead of Foot Locker with 13% and Reno with 11.2%. Snipes still makes it into the top 5 with 11 %. The strongest domestic representative is Humanic in sixth place with 7.9%.

Snipes has the most likes, shares and comments (88%), followed by Foot Locker (6.9%), Humanic (2.1%) and Deichmann (1.7%).

Snipes is also the best at Sentiment: With 80% positive and only 20% negative mentions, Snipes is again ahead of Foot Locker (Pos.: 72% / Neg.: 28%), Geox (Pos.: 61% / Neg.: 39%) and Reno (Pos.: 57% / Neg.: 43%).
